Academic

Georgia Strange earned her EdD in Higher Education from the University of Georgia. She has a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, a master's degree in Science Education, and an MFA in Fine Arts from Indiana University.

Dr. Strange served as a tenured professor at University of Georgia for 10 years and as a tenured professor at Indiana University for 20 years. She also held teaching positions at Ohio State University and Centre College of Kentucky. Dr. Strange received the James P. Holland Award for Exemplary Teaching and Service to Students as well as the Herman Frederic Lieber Memorial Award in Recognition of Distinguished Teaching at Indiana University.  She was selected as a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Georgia and inducted into its Teaching Academy.

Service in the Peace Corps in Liberia, West Africa, work on an archaeological excavation in Greece, studies in Italy, and research travel in China continue to be important influences in her artwork.  She was awarded an Indiana Arts Commission Masters Fellowship and several competitive research grants at research-intensive universities where she has taught.  In addition to many venues across the country, her work was exhibited at SOHO20 Gallery since 1990 in Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Strange served on the Board of Directors of the College Art Association (CAA) and the Board of Directors for the National Council of Arts Administrators (NCAA). She also served the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) for many years. Dr. Strange currently teaches sustainability-focused courses at Florida Gulf Coast University where she was selected as a Lucas Center Faculty Fellow for 2022-23.
