Visual Vasari

"Visual Vasari" is an homage to Giorgio Vasari, an Italian painter who wrote "Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects." First published in 1550, "Lives" offered portraits of Vasari's peers who worked during the Renaissance in Italy. Although biased and sometimes inaccurate, Vasari offered an artist's viewpoint on artistic practice, practitioners and cultural impact. My "Visual Vasari'" employs Vasari's writing to highlight the legacies of Donatello, Michelangelo, and Brunelleschi as reflected in diverse displays of contemporary veneration.
